The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented disruption in all industries across the globe. Due to the illness, some businesses have had to shutter production in order to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus. Here in the southeast, countless facilities are having to temporarily cease production resulting in a loss of business and ability to serve their customers.
LiftOne customers are critical in keeping supply chains moving and are experiencing great challenges and new demands with the COVID-19 pandemic. The effects of the pandemic are multi-faceted and companies’ response vary, however when another forklift service provider could not service their customer’s equipment, LiftOne was readily available to serve as that customer’s trusted partner.
This is particularly true for a large third-party transportation and logistics provider in Greer, SC. With many large and demanding customers, this provider does not have time for their equipment to be down. That’s why when their previous forklift service provider was unable to assist with repairs due to the current COVID-19 situation, LiftOne was willing, ready and able to fix their equipment.
Greg Koon, a LiftOne account manager, managed to schedule a meeting with the VP of Material Handling to discuss the situation at hand. The customer was familiar with the quality of the Hyster-Yale products and appreciated the partnership relationship LiftOne provides their customers. Ultimately there were a total of 19 forklifts requiring maintenance, and LiftOne was given the business.
As anyone familiar with forklift equipment can attest, operators are often hard on the equipment. As Greg conducted a site visit with the logistics provider’s team, he noticed several trucks off in a corner. These additional 12 trucks needed extensive repair, and Greg asked the team for the opportunity to repair them. The team responded that the trucks were down and there was not a way to move the trucks so they could be repaired during normal business operations.
Partnering with the customer, Greg developed a solution that would allow LiftOne to service these forklifts. Due to COVID-19, the decrease in activity for the logistics provider created the opportunity to move the forklifts in such a way that would allow them to be loaded for service. LiftOne provided a rental truck in order to support the team and transport the equipment so that they could be repaired. Repairing the equipment at the LiftOne facility provided a safe environment to conduct the work with less direct exposure to ongoing operations.
